Baggage

Contour Airlines reserves the right to inspect your baggage. We will not accept checked or carry-on bags we think are unsuitable for transportation for reasons like size, weight or character. Before you go to the airport, be sure to check our baggage guidelines.

Be sure to check our baggage guidelines for information on our checked and carry-on baggage policies before you go to the airport. You can find them below:

Checked Baggage

Bags can only be checked on day of travel and your bags must travel to the same ticketed destination as you. Make sure your name is on all of your bags before you check them. For our passenger’s convenience we allow one complimentary piece of checked baggage and a carry-on item free of charge.

The number of bags you can check ultimately depends on your destination. Checked bag fees may apply. Bag fees apply per person each way and are nonrefundable. Additional fees may apply for overweight / oversize bags or specialty items.

You may have to pay bag fees for the following reasons:

  • You are checking oversize and overweight baggage
  • You are connecting on another airline
  • You are checking specialty and sports equipment
  • Additional checked items will be subject to an Excess Baggage Fee of $25.00, each way.

Use Caution When Packing

Some everyday products, like electronic cigarettes and aerosol spray starch, can be dangerous when transported on the aircraft in carry-on and/or checked baggage. Changes in temperature or pressure can cause some items to leak, generate toxic fumes or start a fire. Carriage of prohibited items may result in fines or in certain cases imprisonment. Please ensure there are no forbidden hazardous materials in your baggage like:

  • Lithium batteries
  • Explosives
  • Aerosol
  • Flammables
  • Oxidizers
  • Toxins
  • Radioactive material
  • Corrosives
  • E-cigarettes

Baggage Claim

Baggage claim policies and experience vary by airport. Find your destination airport’s policy by visiting our airport information page.

If you have lost an item while travelling with us, please contact Customer Experience at [email protected] or by calling 1-888-33-CONTOUR.

If you believe that an item has been stolen from you, please see an agent who will be happy to put you in contact with airport police.

When you arrive in the U.S. from an international city, you will claim your checked bags before going through Customs.

Delayed Bags

If you arrive on Contour at your final destination and your bags have not arrived with you, our goal is to return them within 24 hours (for flights within the U.S.)

Some of the reasons it may take us longer to get you your delayed bags include if:

  • We don’t have a local name, address, or phone number for you
  • You’re on a cruise, in remote camp site, or somewhere we can’t reasonably reach you
  • You changed your delivery address
  • We have limited flights to your destination
  • Weather or other operational issues get in the way
  • If you arrive at your final destination on another airline, please check with that airline for information.

Carry-On Baggage

In general, you’re allowed 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item:

Carry-on items may not exceed dimensions of 22 x 14 x 9 inches / 56 x 36x 23 centimeters
Your bag must fit in the overhead compartment.
Your personal item must fit under the seat in front of you.
All bags must be stowed before takeoff.
Items unable to fit underneath seats or in the overhead compartment will be collected prior to boarding and be available for pickup plane side upon arrival.

In addition to a carry-on bag, passengers may bring one (1) personal item such as a purse, laptop, reading material, umbrella, backpack or camera case. Diaper bags, child safety seats, strollers and medical or mobility devices don’t count as your bag or personal item. You may carry on a fully collapsible stroller if it’s under 20 lbs. and fits in an overhead bin. All other strollers must be checked at a ticket counter.

If you need to check your carry-on bags, be sure to take any fragile or valuable items like your keys, medication, or computers with you on board. Also remove and carry on any e-cigarettes and spare batteries for laptops, cameras, or other mobile devices.

All Carry-on baggage must comply with the TSA Carry-On Baggage Policy.

Oversize Baggage

Checked items exceeding the size limitations will be assessed an Oversize Fee of $25.00 each way. Oversized items must be capable of fitting in the aircraft cargo compartment. Checked items weighing over 50 pounds will be assessed an Overweight Fee of $25.00 each way. Contour Airlines does not accept baggage weighing over 100 lbs.

Sports equipment and other large items can be accepted for an additional fee of $25.00. All excess and oversized items are carried on a space-available basis.

Security Screening

All checked baggage is subject to TSA screening. You are encouraged to select luggage travel locks that can be opened with a TSA master key to help avoid having your lock cut off. If your property has been lost or damaged as a result of the screening process, you may file a claim with TSA.

Lost and Unclaimed Property

If your baggage has been lost, you can file a lost property claim report from your phone. You may search lost and found reports from U.S. airports and the TSA at the link above.
